AHA Registered Miniature Herefords
The Craig Farm breeds beautiful Miniature Hereford cattle in northwest Georgia. Our herd was established in 2022 with foundation stock purchased from Broken Spoke Farm in Tennessee and Spring Trail Ranch in North Carolina. We hope to make a name for ourselves as producers of fine quality Mini Herefords.
Now, you may be asking what is a Miniature Hereford? I suppose Mini Hereford is a bit of a misnomer because they are purebred Herefords registered with the American Hereford Association. They are simply shorter than the typical commercial Hereford seen today - picture the beef cattle of the 1950’s and earlier.
The majority of our herd is registered and DNA tested with the American Hereford Association, however we do run a small number of commercial (non-registered) animals too. We prefer polled cattle, although we have incorporated a few exceptional horned females into our breeding program. Our cattle are rotationally grazed through our pastures. We strive to be as low stress and low impact with our cattle as possible. Although we DO utilize vaccines, antibiotics, and other treatments when they are necessary, we are mindful of how they are used.
Miniature Herefords are perfect for the small farm in many ways:

Miniature Herefords are perfect for the small farm in many ways:
- Miniature Herefords are excellent mothers and make plenty of milk
- Miniature Herefords require less feed than standard sized cattle, meaning a small farm can maximize production without over-grazing
- Miniature Herefords are easy to manage
- Miniature Herefords are eye catching - literally we've had people stop in the road along our pasture to look at our cows
- Miniature Herefords produce a smaller amount of beef that is ideal for a small family to store and consume
- Miniature Herefords impact soil less than full size counterparts
