Pasture Raised for Beauty and Function

The Craig Farm breeds Miniature Hereford cattle in northwest Georgia. Our herd began in 2022 with foundation stock purchased from John Cooper's Spring Trail Ranch in North Carolina. All of our cattle are registered with the American Hereford Association with DNA and parent verification on file. We hope to make a name for ourselves as breeders of top notch Mini Herefords.

Our goal is to breed short, structurally correct cattle that perform on grass. Preference is given to cows in the 38-42 inch height range. Although their stature is small, our Herefords are stout. We select for easy calving and good growth on pasture. We breed for polled Mini Herefords using a homozygous polled bull over polled and exceptional horned females.

We prioritize low stress and low impact management strategies. Our cattle are grass-fed and rotationally grazed through our pastures with access to free choice loose mineral. A protein tub is available in winter. A small amount of grain is fed to train the cows to come when called. We do utilize vaccines, antibiotics, and other treatments in the herd but we are very mindful of how and when they are used.

Grass-fed Miniature Hereford beef coming back 2026!

Miniature Herefords are perfect for small farms in many ways:
  • They are excellent mothers and make plenty of milk for fat, sassy calves.
  • Miniature Herefords require less feed than standard sized cattle, meaning a small farm can maximize production.
  • Miniature Herefords are easy to manage.
  • Miniature Herefords are eye catching - literally we've had people stop in the road along our pasture to look at our cows.
  • Miniature Herefords produce a smaller amount of beef that is ideal for a small family to store and consume.
  • Miniature Herefords impact soil less than their full size counterparts.
  • Miniature Herefords are NOT dwarf cattle. They have been selectively bred for generations to have a smaller stature.
